About
Alexandra Avrami is a former professional dancer, ballet teacher, and fitness trainer who lived and worked in New York City for several years, training celebrities and models at Ballet Beautiful by Mary Helen Bowers.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences from Aristotle University, Classical Ballet Teaching certifications from the Royal Academy of Dance (London) and the American Ballet Theatre (NYC), and is Pilates Mat certified by Equinox (NYC) as well as a barre instructor.
Trained at The Joffrey Ballet School and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School SI of the American Ballet Theatre, she performed at major venues including the Metropolitan Opera (NYC) with American Ballet Theatre, the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, the Jacob’s Pillow International Dance Festival, the Mikhailovsky Ballet USA Tour, and Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza for the Table of Silence Project with Buglisi Dance.
Alexandra has taught at leading New York institutions, including the JKO School and the Rita Gold Early Childhood Center at Teachers College, Columbia University.
She later continued her international career in Rome, Italy, where she created her signature PowerMat method—a Pilates-inspired sculpting class that gained a strong following—teaching both Barre and PowerMat classes at Ryoga Studios and joining the faculty of the International College of Musical Theatre (ICMT) as a ballet teacher.
Her work spans television, film, and commercial projects, including Garnier USA, New York Live(NBC), Good Morning America(ABC), Notably, she appeared in Martin Scorsese's series,Vinyl (HBO). She has also taught at high-profile events such as New York Fashion Week, W Hotel Rome, and the Race for the Cure at Circo Massimo for three consecutive years, Alexandra's journey has been featured in publications like Women's Health, Shape magazine, People magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, InStyle magazine, and more.
